Up early and ready to move ... Evora is beautiful in a rather twee way ... at the bus station the destination board offers 9 am buses to Alcacer do Sal and, briefly tempting, Faro for a quick trip and in Tavira before dark ... the Rota Vicentina wins and three connecting buses and less than four hours later, it's Santiago do Cacem ... Helder at tourist info with map and guide for the next week or so of wandering south to the south-west corner of Europe ... a €20 hotel room, comfortable enough, and a recce for the morning ... one short stage or two short ones making one of 40 km the options ... with an early start ...
