Wednesday with the boys and girls ...

Here we go again dear readers of Wear and Dao, so sorry for the lag in the blogging  ... it seems ages since the partner's mother had her birthday party but it was just a week!

Bill the philosopher came for lunch on Sunday and enjoyed the food and the philosophy. Monday morning we set off early to the Lake District, Windermere specifically, where we had a delightful meal: risotto for her and sea bass for me in a swish hotel overlooking Windermere. Yesterday, Tuesday we made lunch for ourselves, always delicious (and nutritious) in this case mushrooms and other vegetables cooked to perfection in the oven.

This brings us to today dear readers, when after lunch we went over to Toft Hill to meet the grandchildren, Dan and Harvey and their mother Elizabeth after their holiday in Mallorca which was great fun, as usual.

Tomorrow Gillian, the Angel of Stanhope is due for afternoon tea so let's see shall we dear readers what we'll serve her with her Earl Grey tea ...

Saturday Birthday Party

So after Thursday and Friday passed mostly inconsequentially, Saturday was the blogger's partner's Mother's 90th birthday party at the Black Horse at Beamish ...

Briefly, Thursday Gillian came for afternoon tea as expected and John from the Weardale Hub popped in too. Friday was a lovely trip to Wallington Hall in Northumberland, with delightful walks by the river and delicious food at the cafe, plus a look around the Hall of course!

Now there were 9 guests invited to the birthday party: Elizabeth the guest of honour of course plus her her 3 children, Susan, Geraldine and Simon. Next came the grandchildren Ruby and Nancy, then the blogger guest of Geraldine and two cousins, Norman and Janet.  The meal was wonderful and the whole event also ... not bad going eh dear readers, 90 and going strong!

Tomorrow philosopher friend Bill comes for lunch, so we've yet to decide the menu but hopefully the food will be delicious and nutritious. ..
