Melide to O Pedrouzo ...

Returning from supper, John appears, heading to the same pension ...  an early night, a good sleep, and early into the pre-dawn, fuelled by oats soaked in water and honey ... coffee comes later in Boentes after a peaceful hour's plodge through wooded tracks as the light arrived  ... the bar and albergue is 5 years old and looks good ... Jesus serves breakfast from 6.30 ... maybe 7 in the winter ...here he is with local customer Jose-Luis ... heading out caped up, John appears .... down the track a brief and warm encounter with Ronald, Brazilian via Portugal, having slept in the woods and walking to Rome ...and raving about Finisterre and Muxia, now firmly in the plan ... Tim, from Australia via Sussex, having passed as Ronald was posing for your photo, is soon caught up and conversation ensues, through Arzua ... some philosophy, some transport related, since he makes a living on transport projects in Africa ... and a veteran of the various Caminos ... after a discussion about the folks who trigger you, a bar for beer with lemonade appears ... Tim presses on for Santa Irene and lunch ... at 1.30 there is time enough for a drink, rest and Pedrouza ... even Santiago ... though tomorrow is plenty early for that ... a short 20 km after today's decent effort ... to illustrate the point of triggering folks, sitting outside with shandy, an old Merc pulls in, inappropriately,  nudges a table before stopping, the driver leaves the radio on and wanders out ... now, to be annoyed or not? A cheery Buenos Dias brings him over for a chat, a not really sarcastic Thank You For The Music, elicits a smile and all is well ... onwards through easy tracks to Pedrouza ...

Before four makes a late lunch ... and early dinner, since the meal is enough for both ... and a wander through the many choices in this last stop town before Santiago, with one off the main road calling ... €10 for a dormitory bed, some pilgrim company, a shared washing machine and drier with Woyzak and Angelito ... two young Andalusians, Ana and Fernando keen on camino talking, and Roque, who was at San Vicente ... looking good ... more to come this evening ...
