Pacos to Redondela ...

Since Oscar and Ana have built an Albergue to complement their bar and restaurant 3 km from Redondela and since the rain returns after a midday rest, today's trip stops short of the target. .. still nearly 40 and well set for two long stages to Santiago or maybe break it into three ...

A good breakfast at the Quinta puts fuel in the tank ... muesli with yoghurt and banana ... Spanish border crossed non-stop and Tui also, though Driess' suggestion of pilgrim run business called Peregrino Ideas is located, though closed on Sundays ... rain keeps things moving until first coffee break before the dreaded Porrino Poligono and the first realisation that an hour was lost at the border ... 4 English folks, two sisters and their partners, pose for a pic ... one couple from Poole in Dorset, the other from Birmingham ... their first day and first Camino and stopping tonight in Porrino ... which is passed fast enough, Nature alternative route skipped due to extra 2km, possibility of standing water on riverside route and strange attraction to the mental task of the industrial estate, anyway it's fast and the grass verge provides respite for feet and legs after earlier cobbles and hard shoulders ...

At Porrino its lunchtime and a delightful welcome smile from Maria sitting down for her lunch ... an invitation to join her and Bianca, who she met on the Way ... philosophy ensues along with a photo ... then on the Way. .. they are stopping 2kms on, a little soon in the afternoon and as Sun has arrived a speedy walk up to Mos makes the stage look comfortable ... subsequent rather heavy rain raises the pace, if not the comfort, and Bar Corisco's comfy new Albergue gives refuge, a woodburner, radiator, hot shower ... bar has food and drink and congenial company, though no pilgrims so far ... Ana says she loves serving the pilgrims, which is just as well since there are plenty walking this Way ... full at Easter Oscar says ... lunches also popular ... a sound integrated business, local folks in all year, pilgrims in season ... breakfast rather late at 8 and likely to be skipped if an ambitious Caldas is to be achieved tomorrow ...
