A shorter stage and rather wet .... starting with a surreal exit from motel room via the garage downstairs ... the whole service designed for car drivers ... it takes a while to walk through Vigo and out onto the Redondela road and light rain starts just before Redondela, turning heavy after Arcade all the way to Pontevedra ... pilgrim hostel has only upper bunk beds, declined for no good reason apart from desire for more comfort, eventually found through town at the Pension Santa Clara, last visited in Spring ... 36 km plenty, what with asphalt and rain ... a few pilgrims about, apart from those wilfully abandoned at the Pontevedra Albergue. ... Alain and Francoise, Belgian farmers on an adventure, having passed the farm to their daughter and set off walking on August 1st ... through France and to Santiago, now heading for Fatima ... a shared menu del dia at Arcade before the very wet walk over the hill to tonight's simple room, with thin walls and a Spanish couple talking quite loudly next door ... Santiago possible tomorrow with an early start and epic effort, but two days better ... rain in the forecast until Monday ...
