Gales and snow

It was forecast for gales and snow and last night high winds removed some trees and electric lines in Stanhope and Crawleyside, though not over the river where The Retreat House is ... just as well, since gas pipes never made it over the river either, despite the old gas works being just the other side ... never mind, gas can be explosive and poisonous, whilst electric is clean and safe, mostly.

Of course this body enjoys exercise and wind and snow is no excuse for missing the early walk, though Sun was late rising due to snow clouds which parted finally ... frankly this snow at street level is slushy and forecast tomorrow is dry and mostly sunny for the trip over the top with Daisy, sometimes impassable in proper snow. Hexham as usual!

Meanwhile in Weardale life goes on despite electrify cuts in the shopping street where shops are without light, the local traders have candles for business as usual. Only the Co-op is closed, even the paper shop has candles or battery power, though no papers are delivered which is a blessing in disguise since the mainstream papers are all lying, and the best way to wake up to what's really going on in the world is to turn off the telly and stop believing the bullshit. ..

As usual 90mph storms blow themselves out soon enough and the freezing temperatures forecast to pick up later, depending on the direction of the wind, meaning by Tuesday some rain and 5° which is warmer and wetter, though not necessarily better, depending on your point of view. Now it's time for breakfast and a short walk, before heading over the hills to Hexham again, wrapped up warm to Stand in the Park again, as usual on Sunday morning, beside The Abbey where the C of E folks will be worshipping indoors.
