Holidays day 2

Well the Railway Hotel didn't disappoint and breakfast was plentiful and included in the price meaning lunch was not really necessary and turned out to be a picnic part 2 with sandwiches of egg mayonnaise and stilton with beetroot chutney in the grounds of the Krishnamurti Centre which we visited yesterday. It was delightful to see old friends and new and introduce the kind caring friend to the Centre for the first time.

Since the Railway Hotel was only available for one night the trip to the Krishnamurti Centre meant a wander along country roads of Hampshire in search of a new place to stay. Before all that, a brief note about the history of the Railway Hotel which was previously named the Augustus John after the racy old artist who not only painted but was well known in Fordinbridge as a member of the London based set including the Bells and Isadora Duncan who loved to dance naked except for flimsy chiffon gowns.

On the way to Bramdean and the K Centre we found a delightful hotel in Lyndhurst available for 2 nights run by Ernesto an Italian and Suko his Japanese partner. A brief conversation with Ernesto sealed the deal of 2 nights at £240 which he reduced to £220 because "I like you!" However breakfast is not included sparing our stomachs for a couple of days.

Today is a visit over the border to Dorset to see the elder sister of your old blogger and her husband at the childhood home we shared with a brother who died rather young in Australia and a sister who married a Breton and still lives in France. The childhood was idyllic with woods and fields to play in and the fields were later developed for building meaning a windfall for the heirs and heiresses. Of course as is known to regular readers of Wear and Dao your old blogger now lives in Stanhope so it's lovely to see the old family home before moving on to Devon tomorrow.
