Fuseta, Vila Real ...

Yesterday's early coffee at boulangerie and further conversation with Diana including news of her passion for writing ... short story outline embargoed since publication possible after illustrator finished ... it's good though and another one is on its way addressing the  theme of teenage  addiction to smartphones ...

Forecast was for rain after some downpours in the night, but the sky looked promising after breakfast and a walk to Fuseta for lunch was risked, Sandy from British Columbia setting a fast pace and sharing story of her childhood in the Bahai Faith ... pavements indicated rain fell during lunch, but Sun returned for timely walk to the station and the train back to Tavira ... subsequent rain meant reading in the new room, now with ensuite ... WiFi enables other entertainment and embracing the relative luxury available in the hostel is noted ... booked until Wednesday's appointment and 6 day break after that still open to ideas ...

Claudio and Manu have teamed up for a train trip to Lagos, others have arrived, including two Sebastians, one French the other Austrian ...

Today looks better weather and a wander East towards Vila Real is the plan ... though no real enthusiasm for the full 25 km, which goes well enough, ignoring Johannes' warning not to use the footbridge outside town tilted at an angle after floods last year ... official cycle sign proposes diversion, though Johannes' ubiquitous yellow arrows still point towards the closed bridge ...

Before beautiful Casela Velha, arrows ignored for diversion to Fabrica and very expensive coffee in polystyrene cup ... a rather exclusive little spot and quiet. .. with promenade and beach shortcut to Casela Velha, a brief photo op for two American blokes and on to Manta Rota for the menu del dia before hitting the beach for an hour or so, since brief shower has passed over .... ebb tide offers firm sand all the way to Montegordo and straight sandy route to Vila Real having dodged yellow arrows in to Castro Marim as well as Eco Via blue lines diverting to roads for a while ... brisk pace ensures arrival at station in good time for a beer before 1627 train home ... relaxed approach without big target ends in decent distance after all, plus a new variant to the route ... familiar and off road route relaxes mind for deeper thoughts, brief break from familiar disrupts complacency  ...

Quieter at the hostel, Jordi from Barcelona here to research sustainable tourism for his masters thesis plus Osvaldo in the kitchen ...
