Malcolm Gladwell's book offers some interesting perspectives on success, though that word is quite narrowly defined ... money, fame and so on ... longevity gets a mention early on and Taoists seem keen on it too ... possibly overrated in an infinite and eternal universe, though these retirement years are a blessing, especially as good physical, mental and spiritual health continue ... anyway, fresh perspectives always welcome ....
David got on his bike yesterday, Oliver this morning ... Ivan quit his job in town and is considering a joint ownership business in Faro ... cloudy today with rain about, though legs ask for exercise and Vila Real is the 25 km target ... oncoming equestrians by golf club respond to cheery Bom Dia, leading rider Portuguese chap with a smile and Bom Dia, second a young English woman with a confused murmur, third, her mother, with a hearty "You look happy!" Fabrica and Cacela Velha bypassed in favour of swift first half without a break and menu del dia at Manta Rota and Restaurante Finalmente ... during which a serious shower passes over in time for the beach hour to Monte Gordo, tough going since tide is just turning and hard sand not available ... in Vila Real the Rua Utopia briefly amuses, especially as it's a no through road ...1627 train reached in good time, more rain on return trip, mostly gone by Tavira ... legs feeling the decent day's walk ... a rest tomorrow, a trip to Santa Caterina Sunday market with Peter planned, his car enabling such inland venues. Weather permitting.
